What’s On

Somerville House provides the Gateway

… to a wonderful countryside experience from historic Hereford City, to Towns and Villages and to special places.

Our unique map shows you some of the places within reach of Somerville house, that you just have to visit!

Whether walking or cycling, driving or using public transport, do your own exploring with maps and guides. For walking there are excellent way-marked walks throughout Herefordshire with self guide leaflets to accompany them. You can join a local walker so that you can relax and have more time to enjoy the valleys, rivers, woods, meadows and wildlife.

… to historic Hereford City

You can explore the city and its history with a self guided walk or in the summer there are led walks by guides who will tell you all about the city. There are also fun walks by Treasure Trail taking you round the city on a murder hunt, but showing and telling you about the city at the same time.

The Black and White trail takes you through villages of timber framed buidlings such as in Weobley where our organic yoghurts come from.

There are special places of interest such as wineries, parks, gardens, heritage sites and medieval churches. Walk in the grounds of historic houses and explore stately homes. Here are links to some of our favourites.

Canoeing is particularly popular on the Wye. River boat cruises can be taken on the river Wye at Symonds Yat. Fishermen come from as far away as Europe to fish the Wye at Hereford and other rivers and streams in the County. There are regular competitions.
